Policemen violate two women and then lock them up: A Local Resident
Two women were reportedly violated by three policemen when two police were captured with the help of locals. The third, a sub-inspector of Kafrul police station, managed to escape from the scene and came back with back-up to arrest the women and the husband of one of the women. Both the women were taken to the police station without an warrant and against their will.
The incident took place at about eight in the evening on Thursday, 2011 at north kafrul jhilpar, fancy villa in the capital.
Seventeen others from the same spot were arrested as well as they protested on a a charge of breaking a police car winshield. Senior officials of the police station could not be reached. Among the seventeen, there was a eighth-grader schoolboy.
When asked, two of the policemen stated two different reasons for being at the scene. One policeman said they were at the scene to arrest Prodip, a 30-year old small trader who was involved with a robbery. The women were held for Prodip to surrender.
Another policeman said that they were on the lookout of a suspicious character in the area and they were approaching to question Prodip as he might have been connected.
Local residents claim that the sub-inspector Kamrul, demanded money - 20,000 BDT
(about US$300) from Prodip. As Prodip refused, Kamrul forced into Prodip's residence with two other policemen and tore apart his wife's and sister-in-law's clothes to violate them.
Locals also say that Kamrul has a record of being accused as 'a corrupt'.
Locals report that a local ruling party leader, Shacchu, was involved in encouraging the police to arrest the citizens.
